Delve into the profound musical journey of "Resilience," the debut album of Canadian violinist Emmanuel Vukovich, featuring Canadian artists—pianist Katherine Dowling and baritone Philippe Sly. This collection, limited to just 1000 copies, embodies a celebration of cross-cultural exploration and the resilience of the human spirit, inspired by Béla Bartók's legacy. The album, recorded at Domaine Forget in Charlevoix, Quebec by Martha de Francisco, features Dinuk Wijeratne’s Sonata for Violin & Piano, Zosha Di Castri’s Patina, and the world premiere of Sheila Silver’s Resilient Earth Caprices. It centers around Bartók’s monumental Solo Violin Sonata and includes a selection of Turkish & Serbo-Croatian Folk & Peasant Melodies arranged by Vukovich, offering a blend of classical and folk influences that are masterfully woven together.
The RESILIENCE Album Book, a hand-made, custom-designed book printed and bound in Montreal by Book Art, is a testament to the artistic vision of the album. It presents as a facsimile music score with accompanying images and texts that delve into the composers, performers, and musical works featured. This limited edition book and the RESILIENCE Album CD are housed in the exquisite INTUITION Box, crafted by Jean-Charles Roussel in Überlingen, Germany. Inspired by the work of German artist Joseph Beuys, the box is made from fine French poplar wood, each signed and engraved with a unique flame insignia, symbolizing the spark of intuition.
This collector’s edition transcends the traditional boundaries of music and art, inviting listeners and viewers into a world where tradition meets innovation—embodying Bartók's legacy and a bold vision for the future. The album, produced by Leaf Music through a generous grant from the Canada Council for the Arts and mastered for Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 Immersive Audio by John DS Adams, is a testament to the enduring power of music and nature. The vision for RESILIENCE and its title work, Resilient Earth - Four Solo Violin Caprices by Sheila Silver, draws inspiration from the four elements of nature—Earth, Water, Air, Fire—embodying ancient forms of medicine, healing, and health.
Hand-made and individually signed, the RESILIENCE Book and INTUITION Box complement the digital release of the RESILIENCE Album, produced by HitLab Music Group and distributed by Warner Music Canada. This ensemble offers a holistic exploration of the themes of strength, heritage, and the transformative power of music.
Produced by Leaf Music in Halifax and released by HitLab in Montreal, with distribution by Warner Music Canada in Toronto, the RESILIENCE Album Digital version ensures that the inspiring messages and harmonies reach a broad audience, inviting all to experience the resilience of the human spirit through music.
