Armina Mussa's conceptual book, Unknown, Wyoming, is a collection of vivid, full-page imagery and a deep look into the mind of the artist which pulls from Mussa’s experimentation with medium and self. Two months after a traumatizing event, Mussa was inspired to create. The name given to her on a hospital bed in New Orleans after the near-death experience was "Unknown, Wyoming," earning the title of her introspective work and representing the month’s time of critical condition and special care of a physician. The photographs gracing the pages are bold, honest, placing emphasis on both the foreground and background, both in full focus and detail. Mussa, in her own words, describes the project as a “true ode to broken things.”Recovery takes different forms for every survivor. The victim of an inexplicable act of violence, in which she nearly lost her life, Armina Mussa spent a month regaining her strength in the hospital, before resuming her work as the project manager for Saint Heron. Making this transition back to work gave Mussa newfound clarity on how she wanted to move forward with her life.
